Former President Donald Trump\u2019s private campaign jet was forced to make an emergency landing on Friday due to a mechanical issue, according to reports.<\/p>\n

So beautiful, flying over, and you just look down and that\u2019s the way it\u2019s supposed to be,\u201d Trump posted to his Truth Social page.<\/p>\n The report said Secret Service agents conducted a \u201ccomplete sweep of the airport\u201d in Billings before Trump boarded a private jet to Bozeman, his first outdoor rally since the assassination attempt on his life last month in Butler, Pa.<\/p>\n The Secret Service asked<\/a> Trump to stop holding large outdoor rallies and instead choose smaller indoor venues, The Federalist reported in July. But columnist M.D. Kittle added<\/a>: \u201cThe request from the grossly incompetent (at best) federal agency stinks of election interference and sounds a lot like a threat.\u201d<\/p>\n He cited The Washington Post, which was the first to report on the Secret Service\u2019s request to the former president. \u201cIn the aftermath of the shooting, agents from the Secret Service communicated their concerns about large outdoor rallies going forward to Trump campaign advisers, three people familiar with the matter said,\u201d the Post\u00a0reported<\/a>, without naming those sources.<\/p>\n The campaign \u201cis not currently planning any large outdoor events, a person close to Trump said,\u201d the outlet continued, adding that at president, Trump campaign officials are looking at large indoor venues.<\/p>\n House Oversight and Accountability Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., told\u00a0Fox News\u00a0<\/a>that he believes it \u201cwould be a shame\u201d if the federal protective agency convinced Trump\u2019s campaign to end the outdoor rallies.<\/p>\n \u201cI think people enjoy going to them and I think, you know, you can get more people outdoors than indoors,\u201d Comer said. \u201cHe attracts a big crowd, obviously. I think the president will do what the president wants to do.\u201d<\/p>\n Others had a more direct opinion on the matter.<\/p>\n \u201cIf I saw this in The Babylon Bee it\u2019d make far more sense,\u201d Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah,\u00a0noted<\/a>\u00a0on his personal X account. \u201cThe idea that they\u2019d tell Trump to stop holding rallies is embarrassing \u2014 for the Secret Service.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThis is unreal,\u201d Trump supporter \u201cEnd Wokeness\u201d\u00a0wrote<\/a>\u00a0on X. \u201cSecret Service is now asking the Trump campaign to stop doing outdoor rallies. How about you do your f*ing jobs?\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThis is a direct threat from the regime to Trump: if he doesn\u2019t stop trying to win, they\u2019ll make sure the next attacker doesn\u2019t miss. We all know what they\u2019re doing,\u201d\u00a0tweeted<\/a>\u00a0Federalist CEO Sean Davis.<\/p>\n Kittle added:<\/p>\n The Post devoted several column inches to what a burden Trump\u2019s outdoor rallies have been for an agency that glaringly failed its mission to protect him. The Post\u2019s narrative is anything but subtle: Trump \u2014 and his penchant for massive campaign rallies \u2014 is to blame for his near-assassination.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cThe rallies have long been viewed as onerous by the Secret Service because they include complicated outdoor venues with thousands \u2014 if not tens of thousands \u2014 of people,\u201d the Post\u2019s Josh Dawsey writes. \u201cMost other former presidents rarely appear in public, and when they do, they usually appear in settings such as conferences and restaurants with fewer people.
