Pennsylvania Democratic Sen. John Fetterman stated that Tuesday\u2019s ABC News Presidential discussion in Philadelphia will be \u201cclose,\u201d acknowledging that both former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris are capable of competing in a discussion.<\/p>\n
During an interview Sunday on\u00a0CNN\u2019s \u201cState of the Union,\u201d Fetterman was asked what Harris needed to do in the debate to win over important Pennsylvania voters in the battleground state.<\/p>\n
\u201cI also want to just say that it\u2019s going to be a straight-up debate. She\u2019s going to do great, of course, but Donald Trump will be good, too,\u201d Fetterman said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI mean, we can all remember he wrecked all of the Republicans. He\u2019s a good debater. But at the end of the day, I don\u2019t believe this debate\u2019s going to be definitive because it\u2019s going to come down to this choice, and it\u2019s going to be close,\u201d Fetterman continued.<\/p>\n
Fetterman said Pennsylvania \u201cis always going to be close\u201d in terms of votes during the presidential election, and thinks that the focus of voters will be on \u201corder\u201d versus \u201cchaos.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI think a majority of Pennsylvanians are going to decide, \u2018Hey, I want four years of order and fairness and unity and a different way forward.\u2019 And I don\u2019t think they want the kinds of dark days and chaos that Donald Trump provided for our nation,\u201d the senator said.<\/p>\n

One is this format that we\u2019re going to see on Tuesday night, one is a town hall debate, and then one focuses on foreign policy,\u201d Fox News contributor Joe Concha said. \u201c[Harris] was offered a Fox News debate, and she would not take that debate because Bret Baier [and] Martha MacCallum are going to ask germane, relevant, tough questions. She wants no part of that whatsoever.\u201d<\/p>\n The Trump-Harris debate on Tuesday will model the one that took place in June between Trump and President Joe Biden, with one candidate\u2019s microphone being live while they respond to questions and the other\u2019s being muted until it is their turn to speak.<\/p>\n Additionally, according to ABC News, Trump and Harris will each have two minutes to respond to questions. There will then be a rebuttal period of two minutes, and there will be \u201can additional minute for a follow-up, clarification, or response.\u201d<\/p>\n No contender will be permitted to enter the stage with pre-written notes, and each competitor\u2019s closing remarks will be limited to 120 seconds.<\/p>\n Neither side will be allowed to make an opening statement.<\/p>\n \u201cThese are the rules that the Biden-Harris campaign agreed to. And if I\u2019m Donald Trump, I\u2019d nail this over and over again \u2013 if you\u2019re going to fix all the problems in this country that your administration created, why haven\u2019t you done it already,\u201d Concha continued. \u201c[They] own this, [Trump is] not the incumbent, [Harris] is the incumbent \u2013 that\u2019s what Donald Trump should hammer.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIt is patently absurd to let [Harris] get to this point in the process, with no real interviews, with no real questions, no follow-up questions, and I anticipate that they will be very pleased with her performance, no matter what the performance is.
