North Carolina Lt. Gov. and gubernatorial candidate Mark Robinson has reportedly been hospitalized just days after a bombshell report surfaced, allegedly linking him to years-old posts on a porn site in which he defended slavery and referred to himself as a \u201cBlack Nazi.\u201d<\/p>\n
CNN reported on air that Robinson was taken to a hospital after a campaign event on Friday night. NewsNation also reported the hospitalization, citing two sources. Later, CNN reported that Robinson had been treated for burns.<\/p>\n
Robinson has denied the explosive CNN report and has faced controversy due to a series of posts allegedly made by him in which he questioned the Holocaust, attacked school shooting survivors and promoted various conspiracy theories. In the newly surfaced posts, Robinson also praised Adolf Hitler\u2019s autobiographical manifesto \u201cMein Kampf\u201d as a great read.<\/p>\n
However, Robinson has vehemently claimed that the allegations are unfounded and part of a larger effort to undermine his campaign. He has also threatened legal action against CNN.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe absolutely are [taking action],\u201d Robinson said during an interview on Monday. \u201cWe\u2019re in talks right now, everything up to legal counsel to take CNN to task for what they have done to us. We are going after them. We are going to go after them for what they\u2019ve done.\u201d<\/p>\n
The allegations stem from a CNN KFile report that connects Robinson to derogatory comments made under the username \u201cminisoldr\u201d on an adult entertainment website. CNN claims these remarks, which date back over a decade, include racially charged statements and extreme views that contradict his current public position. Robinson strongly denies the accusations, labeling them as fabricated attempts to distract voters from the real issues affecting North Carolinians.<\/p>\n
\u201cMake no mistake about it. We are not going to let CNN throw us off of our mission,\u201d Robinson said. \u201cOur mission is to win this race. And quite frankly, I am dismayed about the fact, as I said before, think about how many people out there right now, right in this place where we are right now who are hooked on fentanyl, who are hooked on opioids and how many will die tonight because of it? Think about what\u2019s going on on our border. Think about what\u2019s going on on the world stage.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cYou better understand, I am coming after CNN full throttle,\u201d Robinson said. \u201cBut we\u2019ve got to put the people first, and in order to do that, we\u2019ve got to concentrate on this campaign. And that is exactly what we\u2019re going to do.\u201d<\/p>\n
As for the state, Trump appears to have a lead there, according to most recent polling, but both he and Vice President Kamala Harris have been campaigning hard there.<\/p>\n
