Vice President Kamala Harris sat down for another \u201chard-hitting\u201d interview this week and it didn\u2019t take long for things to get weird.<\/p>\n
During an interview on \u201cThe Shade Room,\u201d host Justin Carter began the interview by telling Harris that she \u201csmelled good\u201d before giving her the floor to talk about her\u00a0\u201cOpportunity Agenda For Black Men.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cHow did we get here? You smell good, you look good,\u201d Cater said.<\/p>\n
Kamala responded, \u201cThat\u2019s better than smelling bad.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s 23 days left until the election and I am in these streets,\u201d Harris told Carter.<\/p>\n
Harris also had another awkward moment when she corrected the host for saying \u201cBarack Hussein Obama.\u201d<\/p>\n

In Trump, he falsely claimed, \u201cyou have someone who has consistently shown disregard, not just for the communities, but for you as a person \u2026\u00a0And you are thinking about sitting out?\u201d<\/p>\n The former president then discussed what he believed was causing black men\u2019s lukewarm support for Harris, suggesting that some were uncomfortable with the idea of electing the first female president, the Post noted.<\/p>\n \u201cAnd you\u2019re coming up with all kinds of reasons and excuses. I\u2019ve got a problem with that,\u201d he said. \u201cBecause part of it makes me think \u2014 and I\u2019m speaking to men directly \u2014 part of it makes me think that, well, you just aren\u2019t feeling the idea of having a woman as president, and you\u2019re coming up with other alternatives and other reasons for that.\u201d<\/p>\n Support for Democratic candidates among black male voters has been declining since Barack Obama\u2019s presidency. In 2008, Obama received backing from 95% of black male voters, which decreased to 87% in the 2012 election. Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton garnered support from 82% of black male voters in 2016, according to The Hill<\/a>. In the 2020 election, President Joe Biden secured 80% of the black male vote.<\/p>\n Former Ohio Democratic state Senator Nina Turner criticized Obama\u2019s comments during an appearance<\/a> on CNN on Thursday night.<\/p>\n \u201cWhy are black men being lectured to? Why are black men being belittled in ways that no other voting group are?\u201d Turner said. \u201cNow, a lot of love for former President Obama, but for him to single out black men is wrong, and some of the black men that I have talked to have their reasons why they want to vote a different way, and even if some of us may not like that, we have to respect it.\u201d<\/p>\n Turner added that as a politician, the message should be for all voters and encourage all eligible Americans to vote, instead of focusing on race or gender.<\/p>\n Actor Wendell Pierce condemned the speech in a post on X late Thursday, stating that it conveyed an \u201cawful message\u201d and that the Democratic Party should refrain from \u201cscapegoating\u201d black men.<\/p>\n \u201cBlack men aren\u2019t the problem. White men and white women are,\u201d Pierce wrote. \u201cBlack men voting for Trump is insignificant. This accusatorial tone will make some black men stay home-which is worse. Black men are questioning our party to find out what their loyalty for decades earns them. That\u2019s good. That\u2019s healthy.
