Vice President Kamala Harris\u2019s campaign has confirmed that she will not be appearing on the popular Joe Rogan Experience podcast, despite initial discussions.<\/p>\n
During a Thursday night appearance on MSNBC with host Chris Hayes, Harris campaign spokesperson Ian Sams claimed that the planned appearance, which had generated interest from both Harris\u2019s supporters and Rogan\u2019s extensive young male audience, was ultimately canceled due to scheduling conflicts.<\/p>\n
After\u00a0 Hayes asked about the possibility, Sams responded: \u201cI think that the vice president is happy to go anywhere and any place to talk to a broad segment of the country. We talked with Rogan and his team about the podcast. Unfortunately, it isn\u2019t going to work out right now because of the scheduling of this period of the campaign.\u201d<\/p>\n
Sams also said that Harris had taken on other interviews, saying she was \u201chappy to go into these places and share her message.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cDonald Trump with Joe Rogan, that\u2019s going to be an interesting thing to watch,\u201d Sams quipped in closing.<\/p>\n
So far, more than 33 million viewers have agreed, making the interview one of the biggest sensations of the current political cycle and a monster hit for Rogan.<\/p>\n
During one segment of the interview, Trump told the host that on his first day in the White House, he asked to see the Lincoln bedroom and noticed that there was a \u201csadness\u201d about it.<\/p>\n
\u201cI said to the guys, \u2018I want to see the Lincoln Bedroom,\u2019 I had never seen the Lincoln bedroom,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd I was standing with my wife and I said, \u2018Do you believe it? This is the Lincoln bedroom.\u2019 I mean, it was cool\u2013 it was amazing,\u201d the former president said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat room was so beautiful to me, much more beautiful than it actually is,\u201d he said before speaking about Lincoln\u2019s son Tad, who died four years after his dad was assassinated and whose picture is in the bedroom.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe lost his son, and they suffered \u2014 the two of them \u2014 suffered from melancholia,\u201d he said about the Civil War-era president and his wife, Mary Todd Lincoln. \u201cThey didn\u2019t call it depression. They called it \u2018melancholia.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cHe was a very depressed guy, and she was a very depressed woman \u2014 more so than him, and on top of that, they lost their son, whose name was Tad,\u201d Trump added.<\/p>\n
\u201cJust seeing it \u2026 a little tiny picture of Tad, who he lost, and it was devastating,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Tad\u2019s death was reported as either caused by tuberculosis, pneumonia or congestive heart failure at the young age of 18.<\/p>\n
The Lincolns had previously lost two other sons, Edward and William.<\/p>\n
Their eldest son, Robert Todd Lincoln, lived until the age of 82 and served as United States Secretary of War under Presidents James Garfield and Chester Arthur. He also served as the United States Minister to the United Kingdom.<\/p>\n
During the nearly three-hour podcast, Rogan also revealed why he decided to have the former president on his show, noting that he changed his mind after Trump was nearly killed during the first assassination attempt in Butler, Pa., on July 13.<\/p>\n
Rogan said \u201cNo. Once they shot you I was like, \u2018He\u2019s gotta come in here.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
Trump gave Rogan\u00a0a glimpse of the scar he received from Crooks\u2019 bullet. \u201cIt zicked right there,\u201d Trump said of the mark behind his right ear.<\/p>\n
Rogan responded, \u201cIt healed up pretty f\u2013king good.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s not like some of the wrestlers, some of the UFC fighters\u2026 it was sort of like a top shot. The thing\u2019s taken off a little bit,\u201d Trump continued. \u201cBut it makes me a tougher guy.\u201d<\/p>\n
