Former President Donald Trump delivered remarks to the press on Tuesday morning about the upcoming presidential election and what\u2019s to be expected.<\/p>\n
While speaking at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Fla., Trump spoke about the crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border and the many failures of Vice President Kamala Harris.<\/p>\n
\u201cToday, we are going to talk about the REAL character of Kamala Harris\u2014a person who has no remorse for the anguish she has inflicted on families across America. Here today is another American mom, Tammy Nobles\u2026 Tammy\u2019s 20-year-old daughter, Kayla Hamilton\u2014who had an autism diagnosis\u2014was found raped, tied up, and strangled to death. Kayla\u2019s murderer was released into the United States to k*** under Border Czar Harris,\u201d Trump said.<\/p>\n
\u201cHer borders are the worst in the history of the world,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Trump then showed a campaign ad in which Jocelyn Nungaray\u2019s mother, Alexis Nungaray, talked about how her 12-year-old daughter had been killed. Two people from Venezuela who came to the United States illegally have been charged with capital murder in that case.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat Kamala did to Jocelyn and her family is the most heartless and cold blooded betrayal imaginable. Thousands of cases just like that, thousands in throwing open the border,\u201d Trump said. \u201cThink of it, open borders. They come in from parts unknown. People have no idea who they are, where they\u2019re from, anything about them. They know nothing.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cKamala violated her oath,\u201d Trump added. \u201cShe desecrated our laws and she got innocent girls like Jocelyn tortured and killed. Anyone who knowingly sets loose these monsters into our country has absolutely no right to be running for office, let alone the office of president.\u201d<\/p>\n

We\u2019ve never had a situation like this. Decimated the middle class and runaway inflation has caused problems the likes of which we never thought possible,\u201d Trump added during an event at his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m running on a plan to save America. We\u2019re going to save America,\u201d he also said.<\/p>\n Not long before Trump\u2019s press conference, the Nevada Supreme Court rejected a challenge by Republicans and ruled that mail-in ballots received up to three days after election day could still be counted.<\/p>\n The Hill reported<\/a> that a majority on the state high court ruled that the state law requiring mail-in ballots to be counted, even if the postmark \u201ccannot be determined,\u201d applies to ballots that have no postmark as well as those with illegible postmarks.<\/p>\n The Supreme Court upheld a lower court ruling that said ballots received three days after the Nov. 5 election day could still be counted.<\/p>\n The decision dealt a setback to Republicans, who argued that the law should only apply to ballots with illegible postmarks.<\/p>\n \u201cIf a voter properly and timely casts their vote by mailing their ballot before or on the day of the election, and through a post office omission the ballot is not postmarked, it would go against public policy to discount that properly cast vote,\u201d Nevada\u2019s majority opinion read, according to The Hill.<\/p>\n \u201cIndeed, there is no principled distinction between mail ballots where the postmark is \u2018illegible\u2019 or \u2018smudged\u2019 and those with no postmark \u2014 in each instance, the date the mail ballot was received by the post office cannot be determined,\u201d the court filing continued.<\/p>\n The high court upheld the district court\u2019s decision that the GOP lacked standing, stating that the plaintiffs did not present sufficient evidence to demonstrate that mail ballots would be subject to voter fraud or that the existing security measures were inadequate to address those concerns.<\/p>\n Additionally, the high court dismissed the argument that mail ballots have a partisan bias favoring Democrats.<\/p>\n Five justices joined the majority order, while two justices concurred with the outcome. One of those justices wrote separately, stating that the appellants did not provide sufficient evidence. Another justice wrote that \u201cit is not in the public interest to change the rules governing this election this close to election day.\u201d<\/p>\n In a statement to The Hill, the Republican National Committee contended that the ruling could impact election integrity.<\/p>\n \u201cRequiring ballots to be postmarked on or before election day is a critical election integrity safeguard that ensures ballots mailed after election day are not counted,\u201d said RNC Spokesperson Claire Zunk. \u201cIt is also a requirement of Nevada law.
