Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz (D) are scheduled to address the Democratic National Committee\u2019s (DNC) finance directors amid reports that their campaign is $20 million in debt following a lavish spending spree.<\/p>\n
Political mega-donor John Morgan told NewsNation\u2019s CUOMO<\/em> on Monday that those who invested in the Harris-Walz campaign were focused on defeating Trump, not electing Harris while expressing serious concern over the campaign\u2019s spending.<\/p>\n \u201cAll of a sudden, everybody\u2019s got the keys to the candy store \u2014 ad buyers, talent consultants. There\u2019s 100 days to do it, and the money started pouring in,\u201d Morgan said, adding that \u201cego\u201d and a \u201ccrazy\u201d desire to get commissions on ads drove much of the spending.<\/p>\n The spending included $15 million for \u201cevent production,\u201d $4 million on private jets, and an additional $1 million paid to Oprah\u2019s company, among other expensive purchases.<\/p>\n When asked if Morgan believes someone might have stolen the money, he responded, \u201cMaybe legally.\u201d<\/p>\n The donor also stated that the reported $1.5 billion spent in just four months is evidence that Harris should not run for office again.<\/p>\n \u201cI think this disqualifies her forever,\u201d Morgan said. \u201cIf you can\u2019t run a campaign, you can\u2019t run America.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThe same thing is going to follow Harris for the rest of her career. She cannot be trusted with the money, and the donors are going to be, like, \u2018Where is this money?\u2019\u201d he added.<\/p>\n In July, Morgan told NewsNation\u2019s Chris Cuomo that he would not fundraise for Harris after she entered the presidential race, describing himself as a \u201cJoe Biden-Democrat\u201d and identifying as an independent.<\/p>\n A surrogate for Harris\u2019 campaign against now-President-elect Donald Trump told \u201cFox & Friends Weekend\u201d this month that top campaign officials \u201cmisled\u201d her and others and that the overall effort by the vice president was an \u201cepic disaster.\u201d<\/p>\n Lindy Li, who said she raised \u201cmillions\u201d for Harris, explained<\/a> to co-host Will Cain that Harris\u2019s campaign officials made a series of false promises and repeatedly claimed that the internal data showed the vice president would handily defeat Trump.<\/p>\n \u201cThis is just an epic disaster. This is a one-billion-dollar disaster,\u201d Li said, referencing how the losing Harris campaign\u00a0blew through $1 billion\u00a0in fundraising and ended up with millions of dollars in debt.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s incredible, and I raised millions of that. I have friends that I have to be accountable to and to explain what happened because I told them it was a margin of error race,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n Li stated that Harris campaign chair Jen O\u2019Malley Dillon assured all Harris surrogates that the vice president would win, even going so far as to produce videos to reinforce the message. \u201cI believed her. My daughters believed her. And so, they wrote massive checks,\u201d Li told the Fox News co-host. \u201cI feel like a lot of us were misled.\u201d<\/p>\n She also told Cain earlier in the interview that the \u201cbackstabbing\u201d between Biden and Harris began long before the vice president replaced him on the 2024 ticket.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was a lot of backstabbing we saw in the press; people were leaking stuff all the time. The White House was leaking like a sieve when it came to Kamala Harris,\u201d said Li.<\/p>\n \u201cIn the final years she was able to stabilize and stop the bleeding of her staff because there was a lot of turnover as well. And we saw the press report about that. And things have finally started to calm down,\u201d she said, going on to add that President Joe Biden\u2019s rapid endorsement of his VP was in response to his anger at the Democratic machine for forcing him out.<\/p>\n \u201cKamala Harris wasn\u2019t at the top of the ticket,\u201d Li said. \u201cBiden\u2019s endorsement of Harris caught a lot of people off guard. Even the chief Dems of the party.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI really think it was a big fu\u2014 a big \u2018F you,\u2019 I\u2019m so sorry,\u201d she said to Cain, catching herself before finishing the statement.
