Pete Hegseth, President-elect Donald Trump\u2019s pick to lead the Defense Department, has picked up some positive news this week on his nomination.<\/p>\n
Alabama GOP Sen. Katie Boyd Britt came out in support of Hegseth after meeting with him, praising his dedication to Trump\u2019s vision of \u201cpeace through strength\u201d and his willingness to change the Pentagon\u2019s goals.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe is committed to putting our warfighters in the best position and returning the Pentagon\u2019s focus to our force\u2019s lethality,\u201d Britt said on X. \u201cWe also had a great discussion about the importance of Alabama to our national defense.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cDuring our conversation, I asked direct questions about allegations that have been reported by the media, which Pete answered with candor and transparency. Based on our meeting and his answers, he has my support,\u201d Britt said.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m ready to get him in front of the committee. I did warn him. I said, \u2018you know, not everybody on the committee is as friendly as I am,\u2019 which I don\u2019t think surprised him. But I also said, there\u2019s nobody on the committee that doesn\u2019t earn our respect.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cMy commitment I was looking for was that he won\u2019t drink, he won\u2019t touch alcohol, and that he\u2019d be ready for a phone call at 3 in the afternoon or 3 in the morning and every hour in between,\u201d Cramer said. \u201cI thought that was a good way to put it.\u201d<\/p>\n During an interview on CNN, Tennessee GOP Sen.\u00a0Bill Hagerty announced his support for the embattled nominee. The endorsement provides a significant boost as Hegseth faces mounting skepticism from within his party over his qualifications and readiness to lead the Pentagon.<\/p>\n \u201cWell, I\u2019d say this: I was just with Pete meeting with a large group of House members, and he had an ovation that was resounding,\u201d Hagerty said. \u201cI think that Pete is, as people get to know him again, as people get to see his deliberation, his deliberate stance on trying to repair the Pentagon, try to fix our recruiting crisis, our retention crisis, I think people are overwhelmingly supportive of him.\u201d<\/p>\n Hagerty was very positive about how the approval process for Hegseth was going. He said keep going, keep fighting\u2026 Why would I back down?
