Matt Gaetz is set to host his own show on the One America News Network.<\/p>\n
Ginger Gaetz, the former Florida congressman\u2019s wife, later stated on X that the show would start in January. She wrote in a vague post on the social media site on Sunday that \u201cbig news\u201d was coming this week and included a picture of her husband. On OAN\u2019s website, it says that The Matt Gaetz Show is \u201ccoming soon.\u201d<\/p>\n
The news comes just a few weeks after the former Florida congressman quit Congress and later took back his bid to be President-elect Trump\u2019s next attorney general, Newsweek reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n Calls for the House Ethics Committee to share a report on its investigation into Gaetz were an \u201cunfair distraction\u201d that caused him to withdraw his nomination. Gaetz has rejected all of the charges that the panel looked into, including claims that he used drugs and dated a 17-year-old girl while he was in office.<\/p>\n Since he pulled his name from consideration to lead the Department of Justice, Gaetz\u2019s position had not been clear. He has also been mentioned as a possible replacement for Florida Senator Marco Rubio if he is chosen to be Trump\u2019s next secretary of state.<\/p>\n Gaetz shared a brief Cameo video on social media last week, dropping hints about his future plans.<\/p>\n Newsmax host Bianca de la Garza discussed the future of Florida Republican with conservative activist Matt Schlapp, chairman of the American Conservative Union, during a segment this week. The two speculated on Gaetz\u2019s next moves following his withdrawal from consideration after President-elect Donald Trump nominated him for U.S. attorney general.<\/p>\n \u201cMatt Gaetz withdrew his name, Pam Bondi was selected. But Gaetz is having a little bit of fun on Cameo posting some videos here. I\u2019ll play a little clip of this just in time for the holiday season. I guess it\u2019s the holiday greeting we didn\u2019t know we needed,\u201d de la Garza said as she introduced the clip.<\/p>\n \u201cWhat\u2019s up Chris, this is Matt Gaetz,\u201d the former GOP lawmaker said, appearing to address FBI Director Christopher Wray. \u201cI know you\u2019re bummed out I\u2019m not going to be taking out the garbage at the Department of Justice, but don\u2019t despair. We\u2019ve got an awesome attorney general coming in, Pam Bondi, and you know what? Rep. Tom McClintock of California was the only Republican to break ranks, voting with Democrats to push for the public release of the scandal, the New York Post\u00a0reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n Reps. Sean Casten (D-Ill.) and Steve Cohen (D-Tenn.) introduced competing measures on Tuesday as privileged resolutions, which necessitate a vote within two legislative days. Casten\u2019s resolution called for the release of the report, while Cohen\u2019s resolution demanded both the release and preservation of the documents.<\/p>\n \u201cResigning from Congress should not allow Members to avoid accountability for allegations as serious as those faced by Matt Gaetz. The Ethics Committee has often released reports on former Members,\u201d Casten argued.<\/p>\n House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) has opposed releasing the report.<\/p>\n \u201cSomeone who is no longer a member of Congress, we are not in the business of investigating and publishing a report of people who are not a part of this institution,\u201d the speaker told reporters Friday. \u201cThe ethics committee\u2019s jurisdiction is for sitting members of Congress.\u201d<\/p>\n The post Former GOP Rep.
