This comes as the U.S. national debt continues to rise to shocking new heights, largely due to spending that has gone out of control over the last few decades.

“As it stands, that debt totals $36.2 trillion dollars, but Musk estimates that DOGE could cut at least $2 trillion from the current White House’s $6.5 trillion budget in the near term. The next natural question is where should these cuts will come from. Musk and Ramaswamy are reportedly considering stripping all taxpayer-funded foreign aid, which would send shock waves internationally,” the Daily Mail reported.

“The United States spent an estimated $70 billion in foreign aid in fiscal year 2022 to help economic development and humanitarian causes and other interests. And America has allotted a whopping $175 billion total in foreign aid to Ukraine alone since the outbreak of its war with Russia in 2022.,” the outlet added.

Rep. Ralph Norman, a Republican from South Carolina, stated that DOGE should “absolutely” focus on foreign aid, but he acknowledged that cutting funding to Israel is not an option.

House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer agreed, telling the Daily Mail that “foreign aid for every country except Israel” should be cut.

Former presidential candidate and former lawmaker Ron Paul agreed, saying on X: “Here’s an easy one for @DOGE ! Eliminate foreign aid! It’s taking money from the poor and middle class in the US and giving it to the rich in poor countries – with a cut to the facilitators in between! Americans don’t want their government to borrow more money to spend on foreign aid. Besides, it is the immoral transfer of wealth and is unconstitutional.”

Musk praised Ron Paul’s comments, saying, “Would be great to have Ron Paul as part of the Department of Government Efficiency!”

House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer is set to establish a new subcommittee to collaborate with the recently formed Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), led by Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, in efforts to eliminate government waste.

According to a source familiar with the matter, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) will chair the Delivering on Government Efficiency Subcommittee. The panel will focus on identifying and eliminating waste, fraud, and abuse in the federal government.

The subcommittee is expected to investigate wasteful spending, explore ways to streamline federal agencies for improved efficiency, and propose solutions to cut through bureaucratic red tape.

Comer recently met with Vivek Ramaswamy and his incoming DOGE team.

Ramaswamy confirmed the meeting with Comer and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene to Fox News Digital.

“A key step to driving greater efficiency in government is exposing the problem to the public—we are grateful that the House Oversight Committee has created a subcommittee to focus on this work,” a spokesperson for the entrepreneur and 2024 GOP presidential contender told Fox News Digital. “We look forward to working together.”

The source also said Ramaswamy is “supportive of the Oversight Committee’s endeavor and are already working together.”

Comer told the outlet that President-elect Donald Trump’s “landslide victory reflects a clear mandate to address inflationary spending that’s driving up the cost of living for hardworking Americans.”

“Wasteful government spending must end, and taxpayers deserve to see their money used effectively and efficiently,” he told the outlet.

Comer told Fox News Digital that the new Subcommittee on Delivering on Government Efficiency “will align with the Trump administration’s priorities to eliminate government waste, streamline the federal government’s operations and cut red tape that’s stifling jobs and increasing costs for the American people.”

“I look forward to working with Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy to deliver on these goals to Make America Great Again,” Comer said.

On the X platform, Taylor Greene acknowledged the initiative in a post featuring Comer and conservative podcaster Benny Johnson, writing: “I come from a business background and have successfully run a construction company my entire adult life. In the private sector, if you’re not doing a good job, you get fired. But for some reason, in government, bad employees—whether they’re failing to do the job they were hired to do or working in roles that are no longer needed—never get fired. This is incredibly unfair to the hard-working taxpayers of our country, and it’s about to change.
