During a Democratic National Committee holiday event earlier this week, President Joe Biden praised his vice president, even telling Kamala Harris that he believes she will remain a force within the party despite her being heavily criticized by President-elect Donald Trump.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut look, it\u2019s also been an incredible honor to serve with someone of immense character that she\u2019s demonstrated throughout her entire career: Kamala Harris,\u201d Biden began. \u201cI knew what I was doing [when] I asked her to be my vice president. I knew her. I knew of her. I knew about her. I knew her record. I trusted her.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cShe always served this country with\u00a0purpose and integrity,\u201d Biden claimed. \u201cAnd she always will.\u201d He then turned to the twice-failed presidential contender who was seated in the audience and said: \u201cAnd you\u2019re not going anywhere, kid, because we\u2019re not going to let you go.\u201d<\/p>\n

Harris also reportedly does not want her \u201cfinal act\u201d to be certifying Donald Trump\u2019s election victory over her.<\/p>\n \u201cWe haven\u2019t seen or heard much from Vice President Kamala Harris since she lost the election last month,\u201d CNN\u2019s Manu Raju told CNN\u2019s viewers. \u201cBut the Democratic Party still reeling from Trump\u2019s victory.\u201d<\/p>\n Dovere said that Harris is mulling two options.<\/p>\n \u201cWhat she\u2019s been saying to people over the last couple of weeks, donors, other supporters that she\u2019s been talking with, As you haven\u2019t seen the last of me, I\u2019m not going quietly into the night. Advisers, people close to her are debating about what that means. They do not want her final official act ever to be essentially certifying Donald Trump\u2019s win over her, especially four years after January 6th. And so they look at this governor\u2019s race in California in 2026, and it seems to them like a layup essentially, that she would probably clear the field or mostly clear the field and she would get to be governor of California,\u201d Dovere said.<\/p>\n \u201cBut if she does that, that means that she couldn\u2019t turn around and run for president again in 2028. She\u2019d need to essentially declare right away. And that is what it really comes down to because there are people close to her who say she didn\u2019t get a fair shot this year,\u201d Dovere added.<\/p>\n But not all Democrats are on board. Party strategist Theryn Bond urged Harris not to run for president again.<\/p>\n During an interview on Newsmax\u2019s National Report, Bond said \u201cplease don\u2019t\u201d when asked if Harris should run for president again in 2028.<\/p>\n Host Emma Rechenberg asked: \u201cThe Vice president has been instructing advisers and allies to keep her options open. That could be a possible 2028 presidential run or even a run for governor in her home state of California in two years. Harris has reportedly repeating in phone calls, quote, \u2018I\u2019m staying in the fight.\u2019 Let\u2019s talk about it now with our political panelists. Theryn Bond joins us now, a Democratic strategist and Luke Ball is a Republican strategist. So two different perspectives here. Is this a good idea for VP Harris to continue her political ambitions?\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cNot to run for president again in 2028, please don\u2019t. I can\u2019t really speak for governor of California. Californians seem to support her significantly. We haven\u2019t yet been able to measure what that support looks like after this current run she just had. That may be the only thing that she \u2014 I guess, may make sense for her to consider. But another shot at the presidency, I hope she doesn\u2019t.
